Alan Rosenberg - Works of ArtAlan Rosenberg is an art and design historian and curator. He is the proprietor of Alan Rosenberg - Works of Art, a gallery that exhibits fine and applied art of the 20th century. He writes frequently and his articles have been published in Nineteenth Century, American Craft and in Silver Magazine.

In his gallery Alan Rosenberg has curated exhibitions of paintings by Edward John Stevens, Jr., paintings and prints by David Berger and photographs by John Stuart Cloud. In addition to fine art, the gallery has been recognized as a showcase for outstanding examples of 20th century decorative arts. The gallery and its exhibitions have garnered press from Art & Auction, New York Magazine, The New York Times, Elle Décor, Metropolis Magazine and other publications.

In 1999 Alan Rosenberg curated Eugene Berman--a Centennial Perspective, at Alan Moss, New York, which included major paintings as well as costume and stage designs. In 2000 Rosenberg curated Jan Yoors, Tapestries, 1970-1977 at Icon20, New York. The Yoors exhibition was documented in feature articles in Wallpaper and Elle Décor magazines. Rosenberg was Director of Content at Icon20, an innovative gallery, auction house and website for 20th century design.

Alan Rosenberg has contributed essays and articles to a number of publications including The Saint James Fashion Encyclopedia, Contemporary Designers, Who Was Who in American Art, Echoes magazine and American Craft. His ongoing series of articles on 20th century American silversmiths in Silver magazine has generated interest and praise amongst both silver collectors and modern design enthusiasts. His articles in Modernism, on modern American silver and on enamel craft and design, are regarded as important references on their subjects. His article "Victoriana 1930," published in Nineteenth Century in 2007, was an insightful analysis of the influence of surrealism on the Victorian revival in 1930's interior design.

Alan RosenbergAlan Rosenberg has lectured at the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, the Arkansas Arts Center, the Atlanta History Center, the Bowne House Historical Society, the Fashion Institute of Technology, the Cleveland Museum of Art and the Bard Graduate Center for Studies in the Decorative Arts. He is active in the art and design community, serving on the board of directors of the Victorian Society in America, Metropolitan Chapter (2000-2005) and as a volunteer at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum (2008-present).

Alan Rosenberg holds a Master of Arts degree in Museum Studies/History of Applied Arts from the Fashion Institute of Technology, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art History from Hunter College and an Associate of Applied Science degree in Fashion Design, also from FIT. In 1995 he was a Research Fellow at the Costume Institute, Metropolitan Museum of Art.
